My balcony garden photo update

Hello everyone. Today I want to post some more photos for you to have a look how my balcony garden is going.

As you can see from the photos, my wild strawberries are growing fine There are a lot of berries, some of them are already in my stomach. You may want to read how to plant wild strawberries.

Also you can see that I grow tomatoes in containers. It is axactly the same as growing tomatoes in pots. They are doing fine but don’t have any flowers as yet. That’s because we had cold weather and had to leave tomatoes in a small pots indoors for a long time.

There is a problem with the cucumbers: again, because of cold weather we had to keep cucumbers indoors in small paper pots and I has caused troubles. Leafs are slowly dying and I don’t expect to get many cucumbers this year. Weather dictates the rules, I am afraid This summer is cold and unfortunately we can’t make a greenhouse on the balcony. Riga (the city where we live) is not a NY The climate is colder. But at least we have a huge balcony. It is hard to find a flat in NY that would have such a big space for making a garden (by the way, those who live in NY can have a look on New York condominiums).

My balcony garden photos “update”

Hello everyone,
As I promised on Saturday, today I am going to write how my home garden is going.
You can see the photostream from Flikr below. The cucumbers are growing very well – one of the plants is about a meter high. There are some small cucumbers already. We still can not put them on the balcony as the weather is still cold during the nights. The average temperatures for cucumbers should be about 70 degrees Fahrenheit otherwise they may die. I hope that the weather becomes warmer after a week or two. As you can see on the photos – yellow string beans are fine too. My wife planted them just for fun but I am sure there will be enough beans for a big salad portion by the end of the season
The dill is growing a bit slow but yesterday I’ve already had salad with our own dill so I am satisfied with that too.
Tomatoes… It’s hard for me to write about them as my granny has ruined my dreams yesterday. She promised to give me two tomato plants and even showed them to me. I was so glad as she grows very nice sort that bear vegetables till the late Autumn. But when I visited her yesterday she said she thought I’ve changed my mind and therefore she planted them in her garden. Well… Never mind. At least she told me I’ll get some tomatoes. And we still have six cherry tomato plants I’ve got some herbs, strawberries and even a lemon tree on the photos. I will write about them shortly. I wish you all the best in your gardens for now!

My balcony garden photos

Hello everyone!
I’ve published some photos of my balcony garden of Flikr recently (you can see my photostream below). Just three photos so far but I will publish more next week. There are about 5 flowers on wild strawberry so far, some flowers on yellow string beans and cucumbers. I will write about my plants on Monday. Have a nice weekends!

Wild strawberry in balcony garden

Today I am going to post a new videos about planting preparation for my balcony garden. I havve abandoned gardens 8 minutes away from my home. I went there and dug out some wild strawberry for growing them in the containers. The video is below. Sorry for the quality – I was making them using my mobile.

My Balcony Gardening

Today instead of writing an article, I’ve decided to show you what I am going to plant on my balcony. Balcony and two windows allows me to plant vegetables and herbs in one-room apartment. I am going to grow cucumbers, tomatoes, dill, onions, sage and so on. I’ve already made some preparations and installed a container on the balcony. I plan to buy and build some more in order to plant all vegetables outside when the weather gets warmer. So do you want to see my one room flat? Then watch these videos.

P.s. I am very sorry for the video and sound quality. I was taking this video using my mobile phone. It has 3MP camera and I was hoping that it will allow to make good movies but unfortunately it is not enough for clear image. You can use cheap home theater speakers to improve sound quality.
